LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE, CA – Navidad en el Barrio has been a staple in the Los Angeles community since 1972. For a whopping 51 years, this program has made Christmas brighter for families in need. It was launched by Danny Villanueva, a former NFL kicker; students from UCLA; and a local Spanish radio station, and has since grown to serve parts of San Diego, Ventura, and San Bernardino Counties as well as greater Los Angeles.

In 2004, Allen Lund Company (ALC), well known in the industry for its philanthropic efforts, joined the effort.

“We began to reach out to produce customers in the hopes of adding fresh products to the dinner,” remarked Kenny Lund, Executive Vice President. “Along with fresh chicken provided by Randall Farms; canned beans; rice; tortillas; cheese; sauces, much of which is donated by Cardenas Markets and Cacique; and miscellaneous items, donors have donated broccoli, lettuces/salad mixes, carrots, potatoes, and citrus, just to name a few of the items. To keep delivering fresh and healthy meals to families, the Allen Lund Company is again coordinating the donations of fresh products.”
